What is Yoga Therapy?
Elizabeth Rogers, MA, LPC
Yoga Therapy is an emerging field in contemporary culture and is a relatively new space in most modern treatment paradigms. It is important to understand, however, that the practices of Yoga are inherently therapeutic and that ‘Yoga Therapy’ isn’t new so much as a new application of yoga practices in a contemporary setting. At Atlanta Yoga, it is in the context of a yoga practice tailored to each individual that that individual’s imbalances are addressed as they present at different levels of body and mind. Yoga Therapy can be used to support a wide variety of imbalances. We have had particular success with auto-immune disorders, cancer treatment support, asthma and COPD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders, disordered eating, and PTSD/Trauma as well as musculo-skeletal issues.
Elizabeth Rogers, MA, LPC offers individual Yoga Therapy sessions as part of her practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor. By appointment. Contact: 404.273.4388 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The yoga therapy components included in my work are based on my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor and constitute a form of movement-based psychotherapy. They are not derived from my status as an E-RYT with Yoga Alliance Registry.
