Beginning Anusara-Inspired Yoga:

A new 6-week series with

Lauren Polly

Class begins Monday August 2nd

at 6:15 P.M.

Join Lauren for a 6 week course in Anusara-Inspired™ yoga. During this course we will explore the 5 Universal Principals of Alignment™ in Anusara yoga based on how they relate to the 5 elements – earth, water, fire, air and space.  Anusara yoga philosophy suggests that we are microcosms of the natural world.  We can develop a greater sense of connection to nature and develop our fullest potential through our cultivating these element qualities in heart, mind and body.  This course is suitable for students with some prior yoga experience.

Class fee: $96 for 6 weeks

Anusara Yoga Therapeutics with

Gina Minyard

A 4-week series beginning August 17th at 8:00 p.m.

Anusara® yoga therapeutics approach the body with empowering, innovative, and practical knowledge – the Universal Principles of Alignment – to optimize the healing potential that is already present. In this series we’ll explore the beautiful theory of how and why this works, and then apply the Principles to address various musculoskeletal injuries and issues. We’ll work with direct therapeutic applications and then integrate them into the common poses of asana practice.

Ultimately, every asana practice should be therapeutic. Your yoga should leave you feeling more free and joyful, not less.

This series is appropriate for those new to yoga and with therapeutic concerns, those established in their practice and experiencing problems or injuries, as well as those who wish to understand the Principles more deeply. This 4-week series will cover therapy for the lower back, hips and knees, shoulders, and neck.

Gina Minyard, E-RYT 500, is a certified Anusara yoga teacher. She has logged hundreds of hours of studies with John Friend, Anusara yoga’s founder, and some of the most experienced teachers in the therapeutic applications of Anusara yoga.

Series Fee: $64

Teacher Training:

Ashtanga-based Teacher Training with Elizabeth Rogers

A year long, 200 hour teacher training based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa Tradition.

Once the course is completed students will be eligible for 200 hour certification through Yoga Alliance, the national certification body in the U.S. The training will follow the guidelines set by Yoga Alliance but will adhere to the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice to do so. As such, we will work systematically through the primary and second series as we focus on functional anatomy, alignment in the context of the three movements, pranayama, and the mindfulness practice at the heart of the physical practice. Because we teach from the space wherein we practice, teaching technique including discourse, adjustment, and process will be interspersed within our practice time as well as addressed separately. We will also undertake a study of the principal yogic texts and several key Buddhist sutras.

We will meet Wednesday nights from 8:00-10:15 p.m. and one Saturday per month to be determined by the group.  There are two spaces remaining in the group. If you are interested, please contact Elizabeth Rogers at atlantayoga@atlantayoga.com. You must have a developed primary series practice.

Anusara® Immersion is intended for dedicated students who wish to go deeper into their understanding of Anusara yoga principles and the Tantric philosophy that supports the practice.  It is a transformational opportunity to "immerse," not only into Anusara yoga, but through this innovative and elegant method, to dive into the presence and joy of your own being. The complete Immersion is 108 hours in 3 parts, with a curriculum created by John Friend, Anusara yoga’s founder.  Immersion is meant to be a course all of its own, for students who wish to go further down the path.  It is also the prerequisite for Anusara Yoga Teacher Training.  You will need the full course of Immersion to attend Anusara Yoga Teacher Training.

Border Lands and Unknowns:

A new class with Elizabeth Rogers

An experimental open flow Mondays at 7:50 p.m.

This is an improvisational, exploratory vinyasa class. Push boundaries, challenge habits, explore new poses and alternative sequencing. All-Levels are welcome except new beginners or those with injuries.

In the words of one student: At some point I hit a wall in my practice. It became harder and harder to step onto the mat. This class opens me up to dimensions of practice I didn’t know were there and to postures I never knew I could do. Who knew I could stand on my head in four different ways? Challenging your mind and body is the only way to grow. You work into a posture by asking yourself,

‘What has to happen with my body, with my mind to make this work?’
