Series courses are great for new beginners and experienced beginners entering into a more tradition-specific practice. However, it is important to understand that a practice is something that is built by consistent repetition over a period of time. We have found that practicing three days a week is the minimum for building and maintaining a solid practice. To this end, we have spaced our series courses so that you can take level-appropriate drop-in classes as well. Private instruction can also be very helpful in the beginning stages of developing a practice as well as for established practitioners. This is the way yoga was traditionally transmitted! Please contact us if you are interested in private instruction or if you have specific therapeutic needs.

Each series runs for six consecutive weeks and the fee for each series is $96. Registration is done by e-mail. Please be sure and include the title, day and time of the series you wish to register for or use the specific links on our schedule page.

Upcoming Saturday Series Dates for 2012 include:
February 11th and March 17th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

We are excited to announce a Saturday Series workshop in the tradition of Sri BKS Iyengar. Ashtanga yoga and Iyengar yoga are the traditions developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar, respectively, both of whom were students of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. These two practices share historical and philosophical roots but each draws out and highlights different aspects of asana practice. Thus, they can be used to compliment one another. Both of these traditions have influenced the development of the Anusara Yoga practice. We hope that you will join us in an exploration of this beautiful practice.
Class Fee: $35.
We strongly recommend 3-6 months of prior yoga experience.

Seated Poses

March 17th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The third workshop in the series is devoted to seated forward bends (upavistha sthiti) and twists (parivrtta sthiti). Seated forward bends have a very quieting, grounding effect on the body and mind. We will explore the proper techniques to achieve maximum benefit from forward folds and the ways in which they may be made accessible to everyone.

Twists (parivrtta sthiti) work on the organic body, and when done properly, create a tremendous amount of space internally, unraveling knots and blockages and reorganizing the body from the central channel/spine/central nervous system. Emphasis will be placed on the mechanics of the spine and its response to the placement or alignment of the skull and sacrum.

For best results, don't eat for 4-6 hours before this class.
Class Fee: $35

Contact us to register for the workshop.

Anusara Immersion is intended for dedicated students who wish to go deeper into every aspect of their practice. Immersion presents the methodology of Anusara yoga in a systematic way in the fully developed context of the Shiva-Shakti Tantric yoga philosophy that supports the practice. It is a transformational opportunity to "immerse" not only into Anusara yoga as a powerful spiritual practice, but through this innovative and elegant method, into the very depths of one's own Heart.

The complete Immersion is 108 hours in 3 parts, with a curriculum created by John Friend, Anusara yoga's founder, and refined by his most experienced teachers. Immersion is meant to be a course all of its own for personal transformation through Anusara yoga. It is also the stepping stone prerequisite for Anusara yoga Teacher Training. You will need the full course of Immersion, at least 100 hours, to attend a Teacher Training with John Friend or another certified Anusara yoga teacher.

Each part of the Immersion includes philosophy and technique/anatomy lecture as well as asana practice, pranayama, meditation, contemplation, and group sharing. Every level of the Immersion expands upon the previous one and so must be taken sequentially. Anusara Immersion follows a curriculum so the parts may be taken separately with any certified Anusara yoga teacher.
